Q. Are smartCRUTCH crutches difficult to adapt to for “weight bearing” or "assisted walking" use?
A. Using smartCRUTCH for “weight bearing” or “assisted walking” takes very little time to adapt to and requires the least amount of upper body strength or coordination to operate efficiently. This situation also allows the user to maximize the benefits of smartCRUTCH by utilitizing the full adjustment range of the forearm platform. Thereby giving the user the ability to increase the platform angle and minimize the amount of load on the hands and wrists.
Common "Weight Bearing" Injuries/Disabilities: Rehabilitation of Foot, Ankle, Leg, Knee, Pelvic or Hip Injuries or Surgery, Paralysis (Quadriplegia, Paraplegia), CP, MS, MD, Polio, Stroke Rehabilitation and Arthritis (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis).
Q. Are smartCRUTCH crutches difficult to adapt to for “non-weight bearing” use?
A. Using smartCRUTCH for “non-weight bearing” application typically best suits individuals that are more active, have good upper body strength, reasonable coordination or have previous experience with forearm style crutches. It is also recommended to initially set up your smartCRUTCH in the lowest setting (Position 1) which offers the greatest stability. As you become accustomed to the crutch, you can then adjust the angle of the forearm platform to a position that maximizes your comfort, stability and mobility.
Common "Non-Weight Bearing" Injuries/Disabilities: Recovery from Foot, Ankle, Leg, Knee, Pelvic or Hip Injuries or Surgery, Amputation, Paralysis (Quadriplegia, Paraplegia), CP, MS, MD, Polio, Stroke Rehabilitation and Arthritis (Rheumatoid Arthristis, Osteoarthritis).
Q. What is the difference between the Medical Series, Sport Series, Limited Series and Base Series?
A. The only difference between all 4 series is the graphic and color options. The functional design of the crutch is exactly the same.
Q. Will my medical insurance cover the cost of the smartCRUTCH?
A. Some insurance companies may cover a specific amount or percentage of the cost. We suggest you contact your insurance company and inquire about their reimbursement policy and procedure. Please note that we cannot submit the documentation on your behalf because we are not a provider to your insurance company. However, we will provide you with a detailed invoice that you can then submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
